{"id":97,"date":"2015-03-28T10:58:17","date_gmt":"2015-03-28T17:58:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kimberlycwonglcsw.com\/?page_id=97"},"modified":"2016-05-11T16:47:14","modified_gmt":"2016-05-11T23:47:14","slug":"experience","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.kimberlycwonglcsw.com\/?page_id=97","title":{"rendered":"Experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Throughout my life, I have had an interest in working with people as they address life&#8217;s challenges. \u00a0While in high school, I volunteered at\u00a0a local community helpline by providing supportive phone counseling.\u00a0In\u00a0my first career out of college as a design engineer, I used my ability to connect and collaborate with others to enable the success of our projects. \u00a0My passion and interest in assisting others led me to start volunteering as a hotline counselor, hospital advocate, trainer and group facilitator at the Los Angeles Commission on Assaults Against Women (LACAAW), a local rape crisis and domestic violence center. This experience solidified my decision\u00a0to leave my career as an engineer to pursue my Master in Social Welfare, which I received from UCLA in 1993. \u00a0I then acquired\u00a0my professional license in 1997.<\/p>\n<p>My philosophy and approach in therapy\u00a0stems from my early experience in using the empowerment model working with survivors of trauma. \u00a0Much of my experience has been working in and with community agencies.
